Magewell Eco Capture Dual HDMI M.2 is a two-channel 2K capture card in M.2 2280 format that captures two HDMI 1.4a sources with embedded audio, at input resolutions up to 2048x2160. The HDMI inputs are on two FPC 20-pin sockets, brought out with FPC ribbon cables and FPC to HDMI type A adapters, so the connectors can be placed where the system design needs them; an adaptive equalizer supports HDMI cables up to 30 m. This version is supplied without heat sink.

Eco Capture M.2 cards offer systems integrators and OEM developers high-performance video capture with low power consumption in a very compact form factor: they measure only 22 x 80 mm (M.2 2280) and are made for small or portable systems where full-size PCIe slots are not available. Drivers are available for Windows and Linux on x86, x64 and ARM architectures; the cards work with OS-native capture APIs, while the Magewell SDK adds custom APIs for lower-latency capture and synchronisation of channels across multiple inputs or even multiple cards. FPGA-based processing handles scaling, picture controls and colour space conversion without loading the host CPU.

Notes

• This version (Magewell part number 115140003) is the same Eco Capture Dual HDMI M.2 card supplied without heat sink, for systems integrators and OEM builds that provide their own thermal solution or have no room for the standard heat sink. Electrical specifications and functions are those published for the standard card (part number 11514).
• According to Magewell, the standard heat sink on Eco Capture cards mainly dissipates the heat of the FPGA chip, the system enclosure must remove the heat in the case, and the core chip temperature should stay no higher than 85 °C (it can be read with software such as AMCap or via the MWCapture SDK).
• Magewell does not publish photos of this version: the pictures show the standard card with heat sink.
• Magewell offers the Dual HDMI M.2 in two connector versions: 11514 with FPC sockets (on which this version is based) and 11510 with JST SHD 20-pin sockets.
• Requires an M.2 slot with M key connected to the PCIe bus; the card cannot be used in mSATA slots.
• Drivers are provided for Windows and Linux; macOS is not supported.
