Blackmagic Design DeckLink Quad 2 – 8-channel 3G-SDI PCIe card
DeckLink Quad 2 puts eight 3G-SDI channels on one card. Each of the 8 mini DIN connections can capture or play back, in any combination up to 8 inputs or 8 outputs, in SD and HD up to 1080p60.
What the DeckLink Quad 2 is for
It is designed for high density systems: multicamera recording, replay and playout servers, monitoring many sources, newsroom ingest. It is compatible with the previous 4 channel model, and the 4 extra channels are configured with the DeckLink SDK.
Connections and quality
8 3G-SDI mini DIN connections up to 12 bit, RGB 4:4:4 up to 1080p30 (12-bit in playback only) and 8 and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all formats, plus Black Burst or Tri-Sync reference input. Power consumption: 22 W.
Installation and compatibility
It uses a 8 lane second generation PCI Express slot and also works in wider slots. It runs on Windows, Linux and Mac computers with PCI Express slots; the Desktop Video driver includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey and the setup utility, and the free SDK lets you build the card into your own applications.
Quad 2 or Duo 2?
If 4 channels are enough, DeckLink Duo 2 uses a 4 lane slot; Quad 2 doubles the channels and needs an 8 lane slot.
