This Power Over eSATA to SATA 22 pin cable by Delock connects a 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive externally to a free Power Over eSATA (eSATAp) port. The eSATAp port combines eSATA and USB and, with its two gold contacts, provides a 12 V power supply, so no additional power supply is needed for a 2.5" or 3.5" drive.
The cable can also be connected to a 5 V eSATAp port; in that case only the 5 V needed to run a 2.5" drive are available.
