Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus Modator encoder module for rack chassis

Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus Module

The Magewell Ultra Encode HDMI Plus Module is a hot-swappable encoding module for the Modator 2U rack chassis, designed for rack-mounted, centralized deployment of live streaming and recording. It accepts HDMI sources up to 4096x2160 at 30 fps (4:4:4/4:2:2) with a loop-through output, plus 8-channel HDMI embedded audio and an analogue LINE IN, and encodes up to 4K30 on the main stream.

It encodes H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) on two independent streams and can stream to up to six destinations at the same time over RTSP, RTMP/RTMPS, SRT, NDI HX2/HX3, HLS, MPEG-TS, TVU ISSP, ZIXI and RIST, with native presets for YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and WOWZA. Recordings in MP4, MOV or TS go to the supplied 128 GB Micro-SD card, a USB drive or a NAS, with schedules and automatic upload to FTP, Google Drive or Dropbox. The module is configured from the chassis touchscreen, its own Web UI or Magewell Control Hub.

Key features

• Up to 8 overlays per stream (text, picture, clock)
• Configuration from the Modator touchscreen, Web UI, Magewell Control Hub or Zixi ZEN Master; HTTP APIs

Compatibility

• Magewell Modator 2U chassis (required)
• Magewell Control Hub and Zixi ZEN Master for remote centralized management
• Streaming platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, WOWZA, ZIXI Broadcaster

Notes

• Modator module: it is installed in a slot of the Magewell Modator 2U rack chassis (sold separately), which supplies power (up to 20 W per slot) and centralized cooling. The interface list of the module includes no separate power input.
• Each module must be connected with its own Ethernet cable and its own signal cables; the Ethernet port of the chassis is only used to configure the chassis.
• Hot-swappable: modules can be inserted or removed while the chassis is running. Up to 10 modules of any type can be mixed in one Modator 2U.
• Magewell also offers the standalone version of the same specification (Ultra Encode HDMI Plus).
