Roland VC-1-DMX Video Lighting Converter

The Roland VC-1-DMX creates dynamic light shows without a lighting operator: it analyses incoming video and audio and outputs a synchronised DMX signal. HDMI video (HDCP compliant) is analysed in up to 32 colour areas and converted into brightness information for each colour, which can be assigned to DMX channels; for example, eight lights in a row can follow the horizontal movement of the image. Sound from the HDMI and analogue inputs drives flashes on the beat, mirror ball speed or lights off when there is no sound, with a 15-band audio filter for precise control.

The HDMI thru output passes the unprocessed signal to a monitor or switcher. MIDI control change and note messages from controllers, keyboards or electronic drums, via 5-pin MIDI or USB MIDI, can switch DMX maps and adjust parameters such as dimming, pan and tilt. Four channel maps are selectable with DIP switches, and all 512 DMX channels can be customised with the VC-1-DMX Setup Tool for macOS and Windows. Maps can also be switched with a BOSS FS-1-WL footswitch.
