Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5017 Mobile Mic Pre / DI / Compressor

The Portico 5017 combines a mic preamp, an instrument DI and a compressor in a rugged, portable chassis for recording or live performance. It has two distinct preamps, one for mic/line sources and one for instrument-level sources, each with its own transformer-coupled line output: for example a vocal mic and an acoustic guitar, or a bass DI together with the miked amplifier.

The BLEND and VARI-PHASE controls mix the DI and mic signals of the same source while aligning their phase, avoiding cancellation; they can also make a quick vocal and guitar mix without a console, or re-amp recorded tracks through the instrument input. An optical (LDR) compressor with a single threshold control, fixed 2:1 ratio and automatic make-up gain, plus the Silk harmonic circuit, complete the unit.
