The Supermicro SSD-DM128-SMCMVN1 is a 128 GB SuperDOM, a small SATA3 (6 Gb/s) flash module that plugs directly into a serverboard SATA connector to provide solid-state storage that behaves like a hard disk drive. With no moving parts it is reliable, compact and light, and uses about 1-2 W compared with 6-7 W for an HDD. Thanks to its design it does not require a 5 V power cable, while remaining compatible with serverboards that need one. It is intended as a boot drive, backup and recovery device, license drive, OS installation device or embedded storage, and supports Supermicro SuperServer systems.
