The AJA FS4 is a 4-channel 2K/HD/SD or 1-channel 4K/UltraHD frame synchronizer and up, down, cross-converter in a 1RU frame. In Four Channel Mode it can do the work of four separate devices, with independent 2K/HD/SD frame sync and conversion on each channel, or process four separate outputs from a single HD source. In Single Channel Mode it combines all processors for 4K/UltraHD, up-converting HD or SD material to 4K/UltraHD or down-converting 4K/UltraHD to HD; Enhanced Single Channel Mode outputs 4K/UltraHD and a down-converted 2K/HD/SD signal at the same time.
Connectivity includes Quad 1.5G, Dual 3G and Quad 3G on BNC, and 12G/6G-SDI through optional HD-BNC and LC fiber SFP modules, with fiber runs of up to 10 km. For HDR workflows it supports automatic or configurable HDR metadata for the SDI output VPID and HDMI HDR Infoframe. Audio is handled by a large matrix covering embedded SDI, AES and MADI, with sample rate conversion on each input. Control is via front panel buttons, a web UI over a LAN or the REST API.
