An anamorphic lens lets filmmakers record widescreen images on a standard sensor, with the typical horizontal flares and oval bokeh of cinema productions, instead of cropping and losing pixels. The Laowa Nanomorph series is designed for Super35 and M43 sensors: "Nano" because the lenses are extremely small and light (under 400 g and about 10 cm long), "Morph" for anamorphic. They suit handheld use, gimbals, tripods, sliders, jibs and even drones.

Laowa's patented anamorphic design forms and focuses the image before the cylindrical elements, so the 1.5x squeeze ratio stays constant across the whole focus range, without stretching faces at close distances. On a 16:9 sensor the 1.5x squeeze gives 2.66:1 after de-squeezing, leaving room to crop to 2.4:1. This lens has the silver flare: The silver flare is neutral in colour, changes with the light source and is relatively thin and unobtrusive, giving more control over the flare colour. The cinema housing has unified focus ring position, 0.8 mod gears on focus and aperture, dual metric/imperial scales, a 55 mm filter thread and rear flange adjustment. This version has the DJI DL mount; optional mounts are available to change it to another mirrorless system.
