The Laowa Nanomorph 85mm T2.9 1.5X LF belongs to a professional anamorphic series (32, 42, 55 and 85mm) designed to exceed full-frame coverage, for high-end productions for cinema, TV and streaming platforms. The 44.71 mm image circle covers the ARRI Alexa LF 4.5K Open Gate and full-frame sensors in 16:9, 3:2 and 4:3, allowing output formats such as 2:1, 2.25:1, 2.4:1 and 2.66:1 without cropping. The constant 1.5x squeeze gives 2.66:1 on a 16:9 sensor after de-squeeze.

The lenses keep bokeh shape consistent from centre to edges, limit edge distortion and "swimming", have low focus breathing and a smooth transition from in-focus to out-of-focus areas, with high sharpness and contrast even wide open. They are about half the size and weight of other professional anamorphic lenses. This version has the amber flare. A 270° focus throw, 0.8 mod gears and easy back focus calibration complete the cine design. The lens is supplied with an Arri PL mount; interchangeable mounts (Canon EF, Canon RF, Sony E, Nikon Z, DJI DL, L-Mount) are available, each with shims for fine flange depth adjustment.
