The Laowa Proteus series is a range of professional 2X anamorphic lenses for Super 35 sensors, with a constant 2X squeeze factor and T2 aperture across the range. The front-anamorphic design combines modern sharpness with the classic anamorphic look of oval bokeh and distinctive flares. This 100mm version has blue flare, with a classic sci-fi look, and a focus scale in feet.

The 2X squeeze is kept at every focusing distance, avoiding "anamorphic mumps"; on 4:3 and 6:5 sensors the full frame can be used after de-squeeze or cropped to 2.39:1. Focus breathing is low, and Super 35+ coverage up to 21.6 mm sensor height suits most Super 35 cameras including ARRI ALEXA 35; full frame is covered with the Laowa expander. The cine housing has the same gear position across the series, 0.8 mod gears for focus and iris, a 300° focus throw, back-focus adjustment on the camera, a 105 mm filter thread and 114 mm front diameter for standard matte boxes. The Arri PL mount is fitted, an interchangeable Canon EF mount and a lens support are included.
