This kit combines the 28mm and 100mm from the Laowa Proteus series, a professional range of anamorphic lenses for Super35 sensors with a constant 2x squeeze and a T2 aperture on all focal lengths. They pair modern sharpness and well-controlled chromatic aberration even wide open with the classic anamorphic look: elliptical bokeh, longer and thinner than with 1.5x or 1.8x anamorphics, and characteristic flares, here the classic sci-fi blue flare. Focus breathing is low, so rack focus between subjects keeps the framing stable.

The lenses use a front anamorphic design with a squeeze held at 2x at every focus distance, so faces do not stretch ("anamorphic mumps"). On 4:3 and 6:5 sensors they give 2.66:1 or 2.4:1 after de-squeezing, with room to crop to 2.39:1. Super35+ coverage reaches 21.6 mm of sensor height, compatible with most Super35 cinema cameras including the ARRI ALEXA 35 and with some full-frame cameras; the lenses are also compatible with the Full Frame Expander. The cine housing has the same gear positions on all focal lengths, 0.8 mod gears for focus and aperture, a 300° focus throw, back focus adjustment with the lens on the camera, a 114 mm front diameter and 105 mm filter thread for common matte boxes. Each lens has the PL mount fitted, with an interchangeable EF mount and a lens support included. This version has a feet focus scale.
