The Laowa Proteus 2X Anamorphic Zoom series offers light, compact front-anamorphic 2x zooms designed for Super35 sensors. They inherit the 2x squeeze anamorphic look of the Proteus Prime series and cover a zoom range of over 3x with two lenses, 26-45 mm and 45-85 mm (3.27x in total), each weighing about 1.5 kg and about 19 cm long, for easy handling in tight spaces, handheld, on a gimbal or on a tripod. Instead of relying on heavy anamorphic adapters on the front or rear of a cine zoom, the Proteus zooms use a dedicated front-anamorphic optical design that keeps them compact without compromising image quality.

Both lenses are parfocal, holding focus while zooming for crash zooms and dolly zooms, and keep a constant T2.9 aperture across the zoom range. They are sharp and contrasty wide open, with a smooth transition from in-focus to out-of-focus areas, elliptical bokeh, a constant 2x squeeze, well-controlled distortion and reduced focus breathing. The Ø31.9 mm image circle supports cameras such as the RED V-Raptor in 7K 6:5 mode, and with the Laowa 1.4X Full-frame Expander the zooms can cover full-frame sensors. The cinema housing has a 77 mm filter thread, 80 mm front diameter, 0.8 mod gears, 270° focus rotation and rear focus adjustment. The flare colour is marked on the flare ring of the lens body. The default mount is ARRI PL, with an interchangeable Canon EF mount included; RF, E, Z and L mounts are available separately. This kit contains both the 26-45mm and the 45-85mm, with the classic sci-fi blue flare and a metric focus scale.
