The Laowa 17mm f/1.8 MFT is a light, compact lens for travel, street and everyday photography on Micro Four Thirds cameras. Weighing just 172 g, it offers a 65° angle of view, equivalent to a 34 mm on full frame, and an f/1.8 aperture that handles different lighting conditions easily. Images are detailed and contrasty up to the edges even at wide apertures, with accurate, vivid colours.
The optics consist of 9 elements in 7 groups, including a low-dispersion element that minimises ghosting and flare; the 7-blade aperture gives pleasant bokeh. The 15 cm minimum focusing distance (0.2x) allows "mini macro" close-ups with soft backgrounds. Light and compact, it is also a good option for videographers, handheld or on a gimbal, and for drones: it is compatible with the DJI X5 cameras. The front element has a Frog Eye coating that repels water splashes and contaminants.
