The Laowa 50mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO is a 2:1 macro lens optimised for the Micro Four Thirds system (Olympus, Panasonic, BMPCC 4K and others). Unlike lenses limited to 1:1, it reaches 2:1 magnification at a minimum focus distance of about 13 cm while still focusing to infinity, and its 50mm focal length (100mm equivalent in 35mm format) also suits general photography and portraits.

The apochromatic optical design reduces chromatic aberration in both in-focus and out-of-focus areas, improving sharpness and colour accuracy. A built-in chip allows aperture control from the camera body and EXIF data transfer, while focusing stays manual; turning the focus ring can trigger the camera's magnified focus assist. At 79 mm long and 240 g it is compact and light.
