The Laowa 7.5mm f/2 has a focal length equivalent to 15mm in 35mm format and gives Micro Four Thirds users a 110° angle of view for ultra-wide shots, with very good optical performance and distortion control in a body only about 55 mm long. The fast f/2 aperture makes it well suited to astrophotography and to architecture and landscapes in low light, and its small size suits vlogging and lifestyle video such as weddings, travel and music videos, also on a gimbal or stabiliser. The MFT mount is compatible with Panasonic, Olympus and Blackmagic cameras.
The auto aperture version has a CPU chip and motor, so the aperture is set from the camera and all EXIF metadata are recorded; turning the focus ring activates the camera's magnified view for precise manual focusing. Its 5-blade aperture creates 10-point sunstars on point light sources.
