Sonnet Thunderbolt 3 Upgrade Card for Echo Express III-D / III-R BRD-UPGRTB3-E3
The Sonnet BRD-UPGRTB3-E3 replaces the Thunderbolt interface of the Echo Express III-D / III-R with a Thunderbolt 3 card, instead of using an adapter. It provides 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth (an adapter is limited to the 20 Gbps of Thunderbolt 2) and supports daisy-chaining further Thunderbolt 3 devices at 40 Gbps, whereas with an adapter all downstream devices can only be Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2.
The card also supports 10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2, so a USB device can be connected to the second port with the proper cable or adapter, and it supports two 4K displays at 60 Hz or one 5K display at 60 Hz. It is compatible with the ThunderLok 3 Thunderbolt connector retainer clip (sold separately), which secures the cable to the chassis with a thumbscrew.
