eGFX Breakaway Boxes are Thunderbolt 3 to PCIe card expansion systems that support any Thunderbolt-compatible PCIe card but are designed specifically for bandwidth-intensive AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards. A large variable-speed, temperature-controlled fan cools the installed card quietly, making them suitable for noise-sensitive environments.
The eGFX Breakaway Box 550 has two 8-pin (6+2) auxiliary power connectors and supports cards requiring 375 W (equivalent to 600 W recommended system power), enough for nearly every compatible GPU except cards with very high peak power such as the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64, Vega Frontier Edition, WX 9100 and overclocked NVIDIA cards. It also charges a connected notebook with up to 87 W.
