UltraStudio Express Recorder 3G is the capture unit of the UltraStudio Express 3G family by Blackmagic Design: a compact, pocket-sized, input-only device that lets you capture broadcast-quality 10-bit 3G-SDI and HDMI signals directly on Mac, Windows or Linux via a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 connection.
It is fully bus-powered through the USB-C cable connected to the host computer, with no external power supply required, making it ideal for mobile shooting and streaming setups, ingest from legacy broadcast decks, capture from game consoles, and integration into AI-based video processing workflows.

Via HDMI: SD 525i59.94 and 625i50; HD 720p, 1080i and 1080p up to 1080p60. Video sampling in 4:2:2 and 4:4:4, with color precision up to 12-bit RGB over SDI (up to 1080p30) and up to 12-bit YUV over HDMI. Color space support for Rec 601, Rec 709 and Rec 2020 on both connections.
Software compatibility
Built on the DeckLink API, it is recognized by streaming and live production software such as Wirecast, vMix and OBS, as well as Cinegy Capture Pro, DevTek Easy Media Suite, Glookast Capturer, Metus Ingest, Softron MovieRecorder, ToolsOnAir just:in, Burst Video WebClip2Go / [REC]Marker, and Zoom. Bundled software includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey, Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility and Blackmagic driver for macOS and Windows; on Linux, Media Express, Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility and driver.
